Umoja residency launches an open call for applications for a five-week long, gender-balanced and multidisciplinary artists’ residency that will take place in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) from 26th September to 29th October 2022.
UMOJA is one of the 11 pilot projects selected for implementation in 2022 by EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) through the initiative European Spaces of Culture.
The residency programme intends to open up cultural dialogue between East African and European artists, as well as to promote gender balance and social cohesion through the arts. The original works produced during the residency will be showcased in a repurposed open public space in Dar es Salaam, thus bringing together the artists and local communities. The residency program will include a final curated presentation.
The call is open to artists and cultural practitioners:
Working in the fields of visual arts, music and dance. From East Africa and the European Union member states
UMOJA will provide, Accommodation, Expenses for travel, Per diems 10 euros a day, A stipend of 1,200 euros, Studio for practice and workshops, Tools and work materials – to be discussed with the artists. Candidates will have to adhere to UMOJA artists’ residency Terms and Conditions upon submitting their applications.
