UBUNTU CONNECTION: Presentation of the jury

euro-scene Leipzig’s new format at Schaubühne Lindenfels on 11 + 12 November 2022

We proudly present the jury of the UBUNTU CONNECTION: Georgina Philp, Marcos Vinicius da Silva, Natisa Exocé Kasongo and Tadios Cherenet will decide who of the 16 participants has most impressively used the power and art of togetherness.

Georgina Philp aka European mother Leo Saint Laurent graduated from the Fontys Dance Academy in Tilburg (Netherlands) with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in 2008 and has since worked successfully as a freelance performer and choreographer in the European dance and culture industry. She brought ballroom culture and voguing to Germany in 2012 by founding the organisation Berlin Voguing Out and the first German House.

Born in Joinville, Brazil, Marcos Vinicius da Silva trained at the Bolshoi School Brazil, graduating in 2011. He then danced with Cia Jovem Bolshoi Brazil until 2016. Marcos has been a member of the Leipzig Ballet since the 2016/17 season. As a soloist, he can be seen on stage in numerous pieces by ballet director and chief choreographer Mario Schröder. For his interpretation of Mephisto in Edward Hug’s ballet “Faust”, Marcos was honoured as Dancer of the Year 2021/22 in the yearbook of the magazine tanz.

Natisa Exocé Kasongo aka Exocé OBB Kasongo is a performer, dancer and visual artist. Born in Paris to Congolese parents, he considers himself Afro-European. Shaped by his history between two worlds, he understands very early on that through art he can break down barriers and reach out to those around him. Exocé describes himself as a krump and hip-hop dancer with Afro/Contemporary influences and has thus developed his own body language.

Tadios Cherenet, born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, developed his enthusiasm for the various types of performing arts at the age of 6, when he took part in the famous Circus Ethoiopia. At the age of 15, Tadios embarked on his first European tour as a performer, which in the following years gave him the opportunity to participate in many different circus groups and perform in the Netherlands, Great Britain, Switzerland and Germany. His goal is to expand his variety of artistic skills to include new innovative choreographies in addition to his usual juggling acts.
