Die Stühle (The chairs)

»An old couple, living alone on an island, proclaims its message to imaginary guests. Only death awaits those aged lovers, those ›Tristan‹ and ›Isolde‹, who as adolescent dotards seem utterly ridiculous with their dreams.« (Maurice Béjart) Born in Brazil, Marcia Haydée is not only one of the greatest ballerinas but also one of the leading actresses of our times.

Křeč Mladosti (Spasms of youth)

Dadaism originated after 1916 as a counter-movement to the existing academic/bourgeois art and summarised a new lifestyle. It led away from orderly rules, from disciplined form, from profound content and created a comical art form of irrationalness and of the sheer joy of play for play's sake. Baby talk, Dada, lent its name to the convenient concept of Dadaism. The Neo-Dadaism of the 1950s and 1960s seized the imagination of the world and fascinated it right up to present times.

Julie

Intoxicated by the romance of a mid-summer night, Julie, the count's daughter seduces the servant Jean. As her excitement gives way to reality, Julie's passion turns to hate. The planned escape with Jean fails and leads to a tragic end. Irina Pauls sets the tension range of aloofness and sensuality, of desire and displaced emotions in the foreground of her adaptation.

Las Rocosas

In a sparse room, merely a few inches over the floor, a man and a woman try to find their balance. The couple looks back at a common past and wrestles over mutual recognition. Their relationship consists of chattel claim, refusal and the use of brute force. However, thrice, dreams and tenderness interrupt the on-going action and create the possibility of a lighter, more harmonic state of their partnership.

Pas de Triangel

Wondrous machines carry on with a ghostly existence; supply structure and atmosphere, create sounds. Grand piano and viola produce the basic musical backdrop which is artfully augmented through tape isertions and similar alienation. Quiet, melancholic city blues, baroque allegretto multi-layered sound combinations join in agreeable, rhythmic diaphonics.

Comedia tempio (Temple Comedy)

Perfect mastery of the body distinguishes this, from the Hungarian/Yugoslavian producer Josef Nadj directed, renown theatre group. The overripe, scenic fantasy of the artists is molded in stark, strikingly contrasting movements. The well calculated rhythm of the overlapping episodes creates visibility in a surrealistic world. Strange, scenic inventions make language unnecessary.
