Polina grows up on the periphery of Moscow in modest circumstances. Her parents hope her ballet education will offer her a better future. She takes lessons from a strict teacher, Bojinski, and is accepted to the Bolshoi Theatre ballet. Here, she falls in love with the French dancer Adrien and follows him to Aix-en-Provence … Angelin Preljocaj, one of the most famous French choreographers, together with the screenwriter and director Valérie Müller, created a captivating adaptation of the fictional biography of the young dancer Polina Ulinow on the basis of »Polina« (2011) by the French cartoonist Bastien Vivès (born in 1984).
