Dance from Budapest

In »Ne hisztizz!« (»Don’t fuss!«), Rita Góbi created a humorous solo that expands into a duet with the rhythm of the drummer Dávid Szegő. Since its première in 2014, it was invited to many festivals. The relationship between dance and music is also a couple’s playful battle for power.

Born in Novi Sad / Serbia in 1983, Rita Góbi studied dance in Budapest and worked in different companies. In 2006, she founded the Góbi Dance Company, for which she choreographed 13 pieces. For »Ne hisztizz!«, Rita Góbi was named the best Hungarian contemporary dancer.

In his solo »Imago«, Ferenc Fehér retains the unmistakable mix of dance, physical theatre and freestyle. He was also inspired by animal movements. Calm alternates with disquiet; you can sense danger and humans’ battle from birth until death. In 2017, Ferenc Fehér received a special prize for this solo at the dance festival in Veszprém.

Ferenc Fehér was born in Debrecen in 1975 and belongs to the most important choreographers in Hungary. He was a performer with the theatre group Finita la Commedia in Budapest. Since 2007, he has created approximately 25 of his own pieces. He has been a guest at numerous festivals in Europe, North and Middle America, and Asia. At euro-scene Leipzig in 2016, he showed »Helló, Zombi!« (»Hello, zombie!«, 2015), and in 2018 »Állomás« (»Station«, 2017).
